“God, teach me to be patient, teach me to go slow,
Teach me how to wait on You when my way I do not know.

Teach me sweet forbearance when things do not go right
So I remain unruffled when others grow uptight.

Teach me how to quiet my racing, rising heart
So I might hear the answer You are trying to impart.

Teach me to let go, dear God, and pray undisturbed until
My heart is filled with inner peace and I learn to know your will.”

This Too Shall Pass

>> 24 May 2012

If I can endure for this minute
Whatever is happening to me,
No matter how heavy my heart is
Or how dark the moment may be-
If I can remain calm and quiet
With all the world crashing about me,
Secure in the knowledge God loves me
When everyone else seems to doubt me-
If I can but keep on believing
What I know in my heart to be true,
That darkness will fade with the morning
And that this will pass away, too-
Then nothing in life can defeat me
For as long as this knowledge remains
I can suffer whatever is happening
For I know God will break all of the chains
That are binding me tight in the darkness
And trying to fill me with fear-
For there is no night without dawning
And I know that my morning is near. …

Listen in Silence if You Would Hear (Helen S Rice)

Silently the green leaves grow

In silence falls the soft, white snow

Silently the flowers bloom

In silence the sunshine fills a room

Silently bright stars appear

In silence velvet night draws near ....

And silently GOD enters in

To free a troubled heart from sin

For GOD works silently in lives

For nothing spiritual survives

Amid the din of a noisy street

Where raucous crowds with hurried feet

And "blinded eyes" and "deafened ears"

Are never privileged to hear

The message GOD wants to impart

To every troubled, weary heart

For only in a QUIET PLACE

Can a man behold GOD FACE TO FACE!

When Trouble Comes and Things Go Wrong (Helen S. Rice)

Let us go quietly to God when trouble come to us,

Let us never stop to whimper or complain and fret and fuss,

Let us hide"our thorns" in "roses" and our sighs in "golden song"

And "our crosses" in a "crown of smiles" whenever things go wrong

For no one can really help us as our troubles bemoan,

For COMFORT, HELP and INNER PEACE MUST COME FROM GOD ALONE .....

So do not tell your neighbor, your companion or your friend

In the hope that they can help you bring your troubles to an end ...

For they too have their problems, they are burdened just like you,

So TAKE YOUR CROSS TO JESUS and HE WILL SEE YOU THROUGH ....

And waste no time in crying on the shoulder of a friend

But go directly to the Lord for on Him you can depend ....

For there's absolutely NOTHING that His mighty hand can't do

And He never is too busy to help and comfort you.

It Takes the Bitter & Sweet to Make a Life Full & Complete ( Helen S Rice)

Life is a mixture
of sunshine and rain,

Laughter and teardrops,
pleasures and pain --

Low tides and high tides,
mountains and plains.

Triumphs, defeats
and losses and gains --

But ALWAYS in ALL WAYS
God's guiding and leading

And He alone knows
the things we're most needing --

And when He sends sorrow
or some dreaded affliction

Be sure that it comes
with God's kind benediction --

If we accept it
as a GIFT OF HIS LOVE

We'll be showered with blessings
from OUR FATHER ABOVE.

Growing Old is Part of God's Plan - Helen Steiner Rice

You can't HOLD BACK THE DAWN"
Or "STOP THE TIDES FROM FLOWING" -
Or 'KEEP A ROSE FROM WITHERING"
Or "STILL A WIND THAT IS BLOWING" -
And TIME CANNOT BE HALTED
in its SWIFT and ENDLESS FLIGHT

For AGE is sure to follow YOUTH
and DAY comes after NIGHT ....
For He who sets our span of years
and watches from above
Replaces youth and beauty
with PEACE and TRUTH and LOVE ....

And then our souls are privileged
to see a "HIDDEN TREASURE"
That in our youth escaped our eyes
in OUR PURSUIT OF PLEASURE .....
So BIRTHDAYS are but BLESSINGS
that open up the way
To the EVERLASTING BEAUTY
of GOD'S ETERNAL DAY.

On Wings Of Prayer - Helen Steiner Rice

Just close your eyes and open your heart
And feel your worries and cares depart,

Just yield yourself to the Father above
And let Him hold you secure in His love -

For life on earth grows more involved
With endless problems that can't be solved -

But God only asks us to do our best,
Then He will "take over" and finish the rest -

So, when you are tired, discouraged or blue,
There's always one door that is open for you -

The door is "House of Prayer".

And you'll find God waiting to meet you there,

And "The House of Prayer" is no farther away
Than quiet spot where you kneel and pray -

For the heart is a temple when God is there
As we place ourselves in His loving care,

And He hears every prayer and answers each one
Then we pray in His name "Thy Will Be Done" -

And the burdens that seemed too heavy to bear
Are lifted away on "Wings of Prayer".

A Special POem from a Far Away Friend

Taking my life with each day as it comes,
Keeping myself away from the slums.
Where darkness may overcome if the door is ajar,
Preventing my life from reaching a star.
Keeping the Faith strong and praising to HIM,
Loving the Lord, while down on my knees.

Looking to rebuild my bridges so strong,
Low and behold, a new friend comes along.
No effort, no work, the conversation just flowed,
No denying the fact that spirits had glowed.
A glimmer of light shined upon us last night,
When everything seemed just so perfectly right.

I laughed and I laughed like I hadn't in years,
So hard that I had to stop and wipe tears.
Just when I thought I was ahead of the game,
You came back with one more that put me to shame.
The one that gets me most and leaves a small notch,
Was the one about my dog with her nose in d coach!

So I sent you my story, how dare I tell all,
knowing I may never ever again get your call.
But no one can take away the time that we took,
To learn about each other, our souls sorta shook.
We take a step back and kinda wonder how can this be,
That someone comes along so effortlessly.

It is you that I now write about,
An amazing friend I have made and forever tout.
That she was instride with my every move,
Our conversation did nothing but be in the groove,
Of what two people would want for a first impression.
You set the "bar" high as an inspiring sensation!

This was written especially for you Princess and what we shared....no matter what, it was pretty special.
I made this up as I went along....it was easy when I reflected back on you.
I hope you enjoyed reading it, as much as I enjoyed writing it for you!

Sincerely,

Your Good Friend Jim

God Knows Best

>> 12 June 2011

Since highschool, i had always have a copy of my favorite poem in my pocket. I'm not the religious type but i'm spiritual. I believe in GOD, His Grace, His Love.

Just wanna share with you my most favorite amongst Helen Steiner Rice' creations.

Our Father knows what's best for us
So why should we complain--
We always want the sunshine,
But He knows there must be rain--

We love the sound of laughter
And the merriment of cheer,
But our hearts would lose their tenderness
If we never shed a tear...

Our Father tests us often
With suffering and with sorrow,
He tests us, not to punish us,
But to help us meet tomorrow...

For growing trees are strengthened
When they withstand the storm,
And the sharp cut of a chisel
Gives the marble grace and form...

God never hurts us needlessly,
And He never wastes our pain
For every loss He send to us
Is followed by rich gain...

And when we count the blessings
That God has so freely sent,
We will find no cause for murmuring
And no time to lament...

For our Father loves His children,
And to Him all things are plain,
So He never sends us pleasure
When the soul's deep need is pain...

So whenever we are troubled,
And when everything goes wrong,
It is just God working in us
To make our spirit strong.
