Lady's Diet

Chicken Casserole

Ingredients

• 1 frozen boneless Chicken breast
• 1 tbl. Chicken bouillon* or 4 low sodium cubes
• pinch of garlic powder
• 1 cup science diet chow or dog's favorite cereal
• 4 or 5 baby carrots

Directions

1. Simmer frozen Chicken breast in enough water to cover it until tender along with all ingredients listed ( except the cereal and carrots).
2. When Chicken breast is tender dice it into bite sized chunks on a platter and drain broth into a separate container. Leave just enough broth to keep bites moist. Add cereal to broth just enough to flavor it but not soften too much, then drain. Center of cereal should remain crunchy.
3. Serve dog the diced Chicken with broth flavored cereal and raw baby carrots on top for a garnish.

 

Meaty Diet

Ingredients

• 1/2 lb. ground Beef (OR Chicken, Lamb)
• 1/4 cup cooked rice
• one small Potato
• 1/2 carrot
• 1/4 cup green beans (about 5-8 Beans)
• 1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Directions

1. Brown the meat in a pan.
2. When completely cooked, drain the fat.
3. Add the cooked rice; mix well. Set aside.
4. Cut the Potato, carrot, and Beans into small bite-sized pieces.
5. Place in a pot with water; bring to a boil.
6. Simmer until veggies are tender (about 15-20 minutes). Drain.
7. Add the vegetables to the meat mixture.
8. Add garlic powder; toss thoroughly under low heat. Let the dinner cool thoroughly before serving to prevent burning.

Over the Counter Meds for Dogs

Diet

• Fast your dog for 24 hours--if your dog is healthy--to help rid him of a parasite infestation. After the fast, feed him roughage in the form of grated carrots, beets or turnips. The fast will help loosen the worms and the roughage will help pass them out. Additionally, switch your dog to a healthier diet. Healthy dogs are less susceptible to parasites. Feed your dog a food high in protein and with no additives or fillers (such as corn). You can also cook for your dog or switch him to a raw diet of meat, bones and vegetables. These diets have been shown to support a healthy immune system in dogs.

Pumpkin Seeds

• Grind unsalted pumpkin seeds in a coffee grinder and add 1/4 to 1 tsp. of the ground seeds to your dog's food, mix thoroughly before feeding it to your dog. If you have a small dog or puppy, 1/4 tsp. will do, larger dogs should have 1 tsp. Grind the pumpkin seeds right before feeding them to your dog so that all of the natural nutrients are intact. Pumpkin seeds only aid in ridding your dog of tapeworms.

Roughage

• After having your puppy fast for 24 hours, feed him a meal of roughage that includes grated carrots, turnips or beets. Fasting for 24 hours can help to loosen the worms, and the roughage will help to push them all out.

Garlic

• Mixing between 7 to 10 g of raw garlic into the food of a 22 lb. dog for at least five days can reduce hookworms in dogs and even get rid of them completely. Veterinarian Shawn Messonier recommends feeding one fresh clove of garlic for every 10 to 30 lbs. of the dog's weight.

Diatomaceous earth

• You can find diatomaceous earth online or at most garden or herbal stores. Mix 1 tsp. into your dog's food for every 25 lbs. of weight. Be sure to use the food grade of diatomaceous earth. You can also put this on your dog and on your furniture to repel fleas which are well known for spreading worms.

Tincture

• A mix of black walnut hull, wormwood and cloves can rid your dog of worms as well, however, too much wormwood can be dangerous to your dog. You should consult with a homeopathic veterinarian to ensure you are giving your dog the proper amount of the mixture. You can find these ingredients at most natural food stores.

God's Design in a Teacher's Life

Last night was one of the best nights I have as a teacher.

It was passed 7:00 in the evening already when I dismissed my class. It was when I was already nearing the school gates, when two of my students called my attention. I thought it was something urgent so I stopped... and then they said something that had pleasantly taken me aback.

" Ma'am, kaupay san dicussion. Marisyo!"

That was a one-liner, but to me, that meant the world already. I am a full-time Law student and a part-time College Instructor with a course load equivalent to those of the Full-timers. I can only enjoy the luxury of rest every afternoon of Sunday's. The rest of the week is already work/study days. In short, I'm one stressed-fellow.

Everyday is a constant battle of perseverance and will. Everyday, I have to check my shoulders whether I have enough courage to deal with my day ahead or enough drive to continue my tasks.

For a teacher like me who has enough on both hands, an interest of a student to listen to the discussion in the class, already means a lot. It revitalizes the energy left after a long day of teaching. And to know, that they appreciated the hardwork makes the job worthwhile.

To be honest, I wasn't supposed to be teaching. This is not the field I chose to study in my undergrad. I wanted to be something else,,,wanted to be someone else... not Me the Teacher. But I long had realized that life is not about me nor about my own will. It's about God's.

So I already had come into terms with my life. My job is to look through God's purpose for me.

In the past, I would really question why I have to teach. I don't see the nobility of the job. I don't see the FUN in it.

But that one-liner last night?..That knocked me. After 3 years of teaching, it was last night that answers came rushing..

Now I understand God's plan...:) :) :)

Fund Raising Activity 2011 for Hist 17 Class

August 2-3, 2011-   My Rizal class decided to hold a booth at school in order to raise funds to be used for an  Out-Reach Program tentatively scheduled for August 17..

The fund-raising event also doubled as an educational activity since I made them depict through a collage the Life of Jose Rizal as the Greatest Pride of the Malayan Race.

There are atleast 3 men in our lives that gives us headaches.

First, is our boyfriends.
Second is our guy-bestfriends
Third, is our exes.

I'm just thankful that now, I'm having my peace. :)
So I'm counting my blessings!!yipeee!!

Take for instance my boyfriend.
Marvin is level-headed,...He understands me better than anyone else. He accepts me wholly as a person with all my imperfections. Luckily,with him, I don't have to deal with irrational jealousies because he is comfortable with his own skin. He's simply my rock. Very dependable and I thank God for sending him to me..

Then, there's my 2 guy-bestfriends. Reagan and Francis.
Reagan is based in Manila now, and I'm missing him a lot this days. What I love with lolo (my petname for him) is that, he is subtle..he simply knew what I want and when I want it. He sings for me, teaches me guitar and really bond with me and my family. He's the uber-cool guy. My Menthol. :)) We simply click as friends. We share the same interests, understands well our peculiarities and ours is the smooth-sailing, chill-type of friendship.

With Francis, it's a completely different story. Ours is the friendship that had gone through different tides, both low and high. We've been swept by winds and  brushed by storms. In short, we've been through a lot together. Ours is the bitter-sweet friendship that had been tested by difficult times.In the past, we had hurt each other with the things we do and say, we have basket-cases (loads of it!) and one time or another, we had lost footings...but at the end of the day, we always fought with courage to save that which is worth saving- our FRIENDSHIP.

Lastly, there's the EX. My sweetest-downfall. "Tryke" was the one who hurt me beyond words. But all's that are things of the past now. Though I still sometimes feel the pain I felt when the relationship came to an end, looking back, I realized that it never really came as abrupt as I thought it did then. There were actually many signs telling me that we were not meant to be, I simply had chosen not to acknowledge it, until I was ready. But you see, the world had moved on. I am happy with my relationship now, and I'm sure he is too, with his own.

As they say, everything we learn can be summed up in three words-

LIFE GOES ON.

Many, Little Varied Thoughts

10:00PM.- I was about to sleep, when I had a silent moment with my thoughts. I keep on playing back in my head how I had spent the whole day, whether I had accomplished something or whether I had spent it wisely. And here's what I found.

Everything that happened today was a blur. As in, a wasted time..
last night, I alarmed my clock @ 3:00AM, presumably to catch up with my readings. But sadly, the comfort of my bed kept me from rising.

I got up around 9:00AM already. Took a fast brunch. Bathe. Fixed myself. Prepared my books.Opened the TV and then got stuck to it. Books- completely ignored.

If there was something I think that saved my morning, it was the movie "A Christmas Carol". Though I must admit, I really did not had a good grasp of the movie's story coz a cousin came around. But not until, I heard a very meaningful line delivered by one of its protagonists.

"But I am only mortal. I am liable to fall..."

I don't know why, but it immediately caught my attention. Although in the movie the protagonist was talking about falling literally, I can't help but take it figuratively. As in, yeah, as a mortal, I am liable to make mistakes...or yeah, as a mortal I am liable to fall in love deeply albeit stupidly. (Now, I don't want to push this topic.)

So, my thoughts had stopped there. For this afternoon, fortunately I had gone through my usual class without any glitch. I had a quick meeting with my Rizal class for the upcoming event we're planning this Tuesday and Wednesday (which I hope to God would be successful. Fingers crossed). I had a little tete-a-tete with a friend, about friendship, broken trusts and in-betweens. I don't think it went smoothly though...:)LOL. I am still pissed up about a close friend's betrayal that every time I talk about friendships, I get easily confrontational. Too bad, I'm really big on trust. Just glad, we're going on the same phase now, so he quite understood my present state of mind.

Before coming home, someone approached me and asked, why I seemed distant. " Coz that's who I am," was my cold reply. Gee..why should I stay chummy with someone who broke my trust and who doesn't deserve a minute of my time? I mean, duhhh, get real!...hahaha!

Now, really I'm going to a crap mood just thinking about that last scene. Wasteful. So, better be off to bed.
I'd rather think about my exams this Saturday than give that more thought.
